Kingston's Cycling and Walking Plan

I also would like to see the Walking and Cycling Strategy updated to take into account changes in our evolving City of Kingston. The old one lapsed in 2013 and is well out of date.

The good news is that our new mayor Steve Staikos has indicated his interest in this project. (See Kingston Your City, December 2017 – January 2018, page 3).

Some of the changes since the old cycling plan include:
  • New suburbs and developments and new high density housing developments in activity centres
  • Grade separation on the Dandenong and Frankston railway lines
  • Installation of new roads such as the Dingley Bypass
  • Pending installation of  the Bay Trail
  • The design and installation of the new Chain of Parks
  • Maintenance needed of older cycling and walking infrastructure
  • The need for integration of new routes and facilities with older infrastructure
